Problems with installing embeetle

Hi @nikantovik ,
Thank you for reaching out to us. I contacted my colleague Matic, because he knows more about the Qt backend in Embeetle.

By the way, are you running Embeetle on Windows or on Linux? If on Linux, what flavor (eg. Ubuntu, Debian, …) ?

Kind regards,
Kristof

i running embeetle on linux mint 20.1

Hi @nikantovik ,

We tested with Mint 19, now we’ll try 20.1. Hang in there, we’ll get you up and running.

Regards,
Matic

Hi @nikantovik,

I just downloaded a fresh image for Mint 20.1 Cinnamon, downloaded Embeetle (7z) in it and started it. It works without problems.

The error that you get is about the xcb plugin for Qt, which is the stuff Qt uses to access your X server (the graphical display).

What desktop are you using? Is there anything special about your setup that might have an influence?

How precisely did you start Embeetle: from the command line?

Could you please try the following on the command line (where “embeetle” is the folder containing the Embeetle installation) and post the output:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=embeetle/sys/linux/lib ldd embeetle/beetle_core/lib/PyQt5/Qt/plugins/platforms/libqxcb.so

Thanks,
Johan
